'New' Orleans High School

A Tribute to Excellence...

...and maybe a bit of mischief

Orleans Sea Scouts Back In The '50s
While the current Sea Scout Ship is called "Nauset Sea Scout Ship 72" because it notably serves the Nauset Regional High School area, it is an outgrowth of the locally and nationally renowned "Orleans Sea Scout Ship 72".

We grew up in a much less litigious era. We were tougher back then (remember whose kids we were). Our parents trusted our leaders to take care of us and to teach us to take care of ourselves.....and each other. They hadn't invented "helicopter" parents yet.

Today's Sea Scouts are probably much smarter that we were, but they can't hold a candle to our era when it came to "hands-on" education. The respect and trust for, and in, our leaders was unquestioned.

The following links, separated by event/subject, have photos and news clippings provided by Marilyn Koch Francis and Charles "Otis" Thompson, Jr. (both from the Class of 1957) and Marty Leonard (Class of 1958).

Please be patient with the Sea Scout information. There are so many photos and clippings of their many undertakings, that editing, collating, laying out, and posting will take some time.
